I finally found the ideal litter box for my four cats and couldn’t be happier with this PIRAIL stainless steel model!
Size is Perfect: The XL dimensions (23.6″ x 15.6″ x 15.75″) give all my cats plenty of room to move around comfortably. Even my biggest boy has space to turn around without feeling cramped. With 4 cats sharing boxes, having this generous size has reduced conflicts and made everyone happier.
Cleaning is a Breeze: The non-stick stainless steel surface means nothing sticks to the bottom – everything rinses clean effortlessly. The 180° flip-top lid makes scooping so much easier since I can access everything without removing the whole top. This saves me so much time with daily maintenance.
Litter Tracking Solved: The high 16-inch sides and top-entry design have dramatically reduced the amount of litter scattered around my house. The little step pad catches what does stick to their paws. With 4 cats, this was a huge problem before!
Smart Design Features: I love that it’s modular – I can configure it fully enclosed or semi-open depending on each cat’s preference. Two of mine prefer the top entry while the others use the front door. The included scoop holder is genius and keeps everything organized right where I need it.
Built to Last: The construction feels incredibly solid and well-made. The stainless steel material and sturdy design give me confidence this will handle years of heavy use from my four-cat crew.
Easy Assembly: Had it set up in under 10 minutes – the instructions were clear and all the parts fit together perfectly.
Yes, it’s more expensive upfront, but when you’re dealing with multiple cats, the durability, easy maintenance, and thoughtful design features make it worth every penny. This has made my daily routine so much easier. Highly recommend for any multi-cat household!

We’ve had a normal litter box for our cat for years…just a big plastic tub with a removable lid and a hole in the top. Which was fine, but this stainless one with a door is a huge upgrade! My wife just remarked to me yesterday how much easier it is to scoop it out – the entire top 2/3 of the unit, which is plastic but sturdy, comes right off. Then you can easily scoop it, and the stainless steel bottom portion doesn’t retain any smell. Pop the top part back on and you’re done. SO much easier than having to reach down into the big tub we had previously!
Beyond that, there honestly seems to be a lot less smell coming from this one. I’m sure that has something to do with the activated carbon insert that absorbs smells, and probably just the overall design (the top hole is smaller). Our kitty didn’t take any time to get used to it either…he likes the front exit door, just makes it easier to get out after he’s done his business. We don’t use the little ramp just because we don’t have the space for it, but I can see how it’d be useful in keeping litter from spreading when they exit the box.
All in all, we’re really happy with this, as is our cat. Very much an upgrade, without having to spend a ton of money on some automated thing.

If your cats use them, covered boxes reduce offensive odors and dust. In multi-cat homes, some cats will be stressed by the possibility of ambush when exiting. The roof portal in this box may alleviate that stress by providing an alternate exit. A large box like this one allows a cat to easily turn around inside. This can be especially important for senior cats that may have arthritis or other mobility issues.
Some cats will rebel when their box or litter type is changed. This may mean they relieve themselves somewhere outside the box, and such behavior can be very difficult to stop. Making changes gradually over the course of days can avoid grief. Keep your old box set up near the new one and mix old and new litter types until the cat has adjusted.
I prefer to scoop my litter box twice daily, and to deep clean it as necessary. Your cat’s urination behavior is what drives the need for deep cleaning. Some cats insist on peeing on a tray wall, and this will result in a buildup of solids that require a bit more work to remove. The stainless-steel tray in this box makes this cleaning much easier than a plastic tray.
A full-sized layered mat is a worthy investment for trapping litter from a cat’s feet after they exit the litter box. This litter box includes a litter-trapping step which is great for easier access for kittens and senior cats who may have trouble getting over the high wall into the box.
