These have a weird chemical smell to them. I let my baby ball pythons have them to see if they would want anything to do with them, and they didn’t. The babies are still in tubs, and I cannot get the smell out of the tubs all the way.
I can see a rusty wire frame inside of the ball, and there is taught strings of fishing line that could definitely harm a live animal if they snagged themselves.
I may strip the moss, try to clean the rust, and re-wrap with fresh moss, but I’m not sold. These are just sitting in a box. I’d just go with a Galapagos moss ball or something from a more reputable reptile brand.

DO NOT BUY – NOT GECKO SAFE
Nearly killed my leopard gecko.
Originally I thought the moss ball was a cute addition to my gecko’s tank.
However I came home this morning to find my leopard gecko, Clementine, barley breathing and almost completely white. She was being constricted/suffocated within the ball by the black nylon string used in the ball’s material.
Not only was this awful as she almost died and is still facing the possibility of losing a leg that didn’t get circulation, but this was all made worse by the fact that I couldn’t even get to her, because of how the ball is built. It’s metal wiring, with black string and moss wrapped all around.
Thankfully, I had a half day at work and was able to catch this before it was too late. But had I come home even an hour later and who knows what would have happened.
Please do not buy this product, it could endanger your animals life.

My crested gecko loves this moss cave. He doesn’t quite fit all the way inside but I like to think he feels safe and comfortable in there

Perfect for my crested gecko cage. I added 3 pieces of covered wire with greenery to hang it from the top of the cage. She climbs on it a lot, but I’ve never seen her in it, but it looks nice in there.
