    READ THIS BEFORE GIVING UP!!

I bought this shocker collar for my little dog to help train him. Because he’s a yorkie and has a sensitive trachea (and because I don’t need them) I took the “shocker” prongs off completely and only use the bell and vibrate setting, which works perfectly for me. I really liked the collar, HOWEVER; like a few others have indicated, I too was becoming increasingly irritated at the collar’s “sleep mode”. I was just about to give up on it and write a review to match my frustration when I decided to read some of the other reviews on here to figure out if anyone else was experiencing the same frustration and if they had found a solution.

It turns out that many people were having the same issue, but I only found one person who had a solution that solved the problem. However, they only briefly mentioned it and gave no mention as to HOW to fix it. They reported that they turned on the “L” setting and now their collar works perfectly.

Since I no longer had my manual, I had no idea to what they were referring, so I just started to play with the remote and sure enough, I was able to get an “L” to pop up on my remote’s display. I tested it with the “L” on and with it off and am happy to report that my collar now works perfectly and I’m very happy with it… Happy enough that I gave it 5 stars and wanted to come on here to help anyone else who might be having the same problem.

If you don’t want your dog’s collar to go into “sleep” mode, simply hold down the button with the lock symbol on it until you see a blue “L” appear on the top of the screen. That shuts down sleep mode and keeps your collar on full time. If ypu DO want sleep mode to conserve battery, it requires a long press of a button (I use bell) to wake it up. Hopefully this helps someone else and prevents the product from getting unnecessary negative reviews, as it really is a great product and I’m very happy with it (now).

One of my best friends doesn’t have any children and she’s almost done with the adoption process for a small chihuahua. She always loved animals and initially was hesitant to get one because she lives alone and works late. But with research and friends with experience she is getting her little puppy. I decided to get her a meaningful gift. A gift that can help relieve her worries about training and caring for her soon to be baby pup, once the doggie is of age of course. Another friend who is a dog owner has bought and used the same product. It was highly recommended. I’m super excited to give my bestie this Christmas gift.

As a dog owner with experience using shock collars with multiple dogs over a 25+ year period of time, I feel comfortable giving an honest review of this product.

    The collar:
The collar itself is a basic nylon strap with a buckle much like you’d find on a backpack or belt bag. This is likely suitable for a small dog. The strap is fairly thin and I would not feel comfortable leaving it on a larger dog without supervision. With that being said, this strap will only fit a dog with a neck up to 19 inches so be aware of that. The receiver on the collar is very lightweight and has prongs that can be swapped out depending on your needs. This is great for a smaller dog, but if you’re looking for something rugged for a sporting type breed, this likely is not going to work for you. The receiver is a hard plastic rather than the coated/rubberized receiver you would find on Sport Dog, old Tri-Tronics, or Garmin. Again, suitable for what it is meant for.

    The transmitter:
The transmitter is actually fairly impressive in my mind. The buttons are a bit hard to read without tilting them into the light to see the symbols, but this could be remedied by the company in a future iteration by placing white symbols on the black buttons. This isn’t necessary per-se because you’re likely to get used to where everything it, but it would be handy. The screen is about the size of a quarter and in color. I’m impressed with that part of it. It also comes with a strap that could be worn on the wrist. A belt clip would also be nice in my mind for quicker accessibility, but again, not necessary.

    The features:
Tone: My dogs both are trained to the point that they will respond to the tone on their own collars. When testing the tone on this collar at my desk, my youngest lab made a beeline out of the room. The tone is strong and will get the attention of the dog as is intended.

Vibration: You can adjust the level of vibration. At 99, it is almost stronger than my Sport Dog collars. If you have a small dog, you might consider turning this down.

Shock: You can lock it so that you never shock your dog. I would also recommend trying the level of shock on yourself by laying your own finger across both prongs before just slapping this on your dog. If you’re going to do it to them, you should know what you’re actually doing. When testing the collar with my finger, I could not even feel the slightest tingle in my finger until the collar was at level 9 for shock. By level 17 it still was not that strong, but on a small dog it doesn’t have to be. The level increases all the way to 99, so use your discretion.

    Overall:
If you own a small dog who could benefit from some correction and you are willing to learn how to use a shock collar correctly and appropriately, this is a good collar for you. If improvements are made to the product in the future, I think it could benefit from a belt clip for the transmitter, a different style strap for the collar itself and maybe even a more durable material for the receiver. This is an expandable system so you can have more than one dog on the same transmitter which is nice. The big limitation is the range of the collar in my mind. It has a range of 1300 feet. This is fine for in the home, the yard, or on walks, but would be lacking in a larger area.

With that said, this collar is suitable for its intended purpose and I give it 5 stars overall.

    Meet your new dog!!!
    SIZE:
We have the tiniest Havamorkie dog weighing in at about 3 lbs. she was the runt of the litter and she’s been exceptionally difficult to train. She also RUNS. The minute the door gets opened this pup takes off barking at everything in sight as though her life depends on it. This is the 4th collar we’ve purchased! Each of the others was too big for her. This one FITS! We trimmed the collar and used a lighter to burn the trimmed edge so it would not fray.

    BATTERY:
It came fully charged and after several days of use we still have not needed to charge it.

    SUCCESS:
Her barking? Nearly non-existent. Running away? She hardly considers it. We used it on a level 5 (levels go from 0-99) shock, and level 40 vibrate. We wanted the vibrate to be serious enough that she may not need the shock factor.
    TRAINING:
To train her we put it on her but didn’t use it at all for two days. Just so she would not immediately associate the collar with the beep. Then we casually brought her outside pet her then stood up. The minute she realized she wasn’t bound by a leash she TORE OFF.
Beep first. No response. Vibrate next. Some confusion but continued running. Shock. Surprised but kept running. Shock again. Confused- ran straight to me.
We worked with her purposely for 2 or 3 days. Bringing her outside regularly and letting her figure out her boundaries. When she got near the boundary line we’d call her back. If she didn’t come we’d beep, then vibrate, then if needed use the shock. By day three she didn’t do much as attempt the boundary line and she always Came running quickly if we called.
    SUMMERY:
She is so much happier! We are so much happier! And she has freedom like never before. We feel like we got a new dog. Now- I just wonder how to get a second one on a different channel so I can use one for her brother!

No complaints at all so far. My dog is 8 pounds. It fits well, not too bulky on his throat. The command buttons r clearly marked . I like the warning button that can be pushed for an audible prompt for your dog before either vibrate or shock options. This should hopefully aide in training. The magnetic charger is excellent . Overall very satisfied.

I had purchased this Ultra-Small Dog Shock Collar, Ultra-Light & Thin Dog Training Collar with 1300ft Remote, Tailored for Small Dogs 5-15lbs & Medium Dogs, 198-Level Precise Control, Waterproof, Rechargeable(Beige) for my medium-long-haired cat, and it was quite nice and efficient. It was easily adjustable, had a very nice and sleek exterior and I love that the beep sound function is audible at a distance. My cat sometimes sleeps in the most unfindable places, so I used this to locate him. It has been almost two weeks, and I can confidently say it is still in good condition and I have had no issue pairing the collar.
